Italian Top Ten

What we miss now that we've left Italy

10. Gelato:
The best ice cream in the world.

9. The Architecture:
It was fun to walk around in the rain. The Porticos were everywhere so we could enjoy the sound of the rain on the pavement without getting wet. The artistry and beauty of the old buildings was incredible.

8. The Antica Trattoria:
This was an inexpensive restaurant downstars from our apartment. The family was so friendly and kind to us, and the Tortellini alla Panna was fantastic.

7. Gelato:
Laura's favorite was the Creme de Lemone. We could only find it in two places, but it was always worth the long walks to get it.

6. People at the School:
Though it was a pain to have to fulfill all our calling and internet needs at the school, it was nice to be able to mingle with Christopher's fellow students, and watch them play with our boys.

5. The Beach:
It was fun to be so close to the beach and to be able to hop on a train and go. We usually had difficulty finding the beach, but it was always a fun adventure.

4. Gelato:
The Dark Chocolate will be sorely missed by Christopher.

3. The Familia Marchesini:
Davide and Lucia became our Italian parents. They invited us to their home for dinner every month and treated us like their own children.

2. Carlo and Dorotea Bungini:
They became our Italian grandparents. They were not able to have children of their own so they adopted us and took care of us. They Took us to church every week, and spoke English a little so laura felt at home with them.

1. The Bologna Ward:
From the moment we stepped into that church we felt welcome and loved. We've never done so little and been given so much in a Ward. They even threw us a going away party, and the Elders Quorum President made us a slide show to tell us how much they loved us and our boys.

PS I mentioned the Marchesini's and the Bungini's because we did the most with those particular Italian families. I'll soon make an entry about all our best friends in Italy. So don't feel left out, you'll be here soon!

It's like we went to totally different wards. It's true what they say 'you get back what your give out' You guys were friendly and inviting, and having an Italiano speaker makes all the difference. Of course now that you guys and Julie & Spencer have gone - no one speaks to us, but thats because we speak to no one either. I can't wait to get out of here!!! LOL.
I had to laugh at you saying the beach was so close. I guess thats a true perspective for someone from UTAH. It feels like a million miles away to me.
Nice job with the blog you two. Im looking forward to many more posts, and pics!
