One of the best parts about living in Italy was that we didn't have as many bills as we do here. We got used to not paying medical bills and car fix-ups. (Thanks Mom and Dad!) So this week when Sam's emergency room bills came in just in time for us to get our car brakes fixed we found ourselves dishing out a couple thousand dollars....though we are disputing the insta-care bill that charged us $145.00 for them to refuse to treat our little boy.
Our car's brakes have been whistling for a couple of weeks and so today we took it to Midas to get them fixed, and found that we needed the oil changed and the power steering fluid flushed, as well. Just more money out of our pockets. In fact we probably spent more money than the car could be sold for.
On the bright side, our car is driving better than it has in over four years.
In other news -
The road was really slick on Tuesday when Chris drove home from the metro. So he was hit from behind, just a tap really. One more small dent to decorate our little car. It didn't do anything bad to the car so he decided to just leave it and not bother with insurance companies or burdening the guy with paying anything for it. A few minutes later someone cut Chris off and then slammed on their brakes. (I hate when people do that!) Our car was not going to stop in time,( the brakes hadn't been fixed yet, and the tires started to skid) so Chris swerved into the left hand turning lane, just missing a bad crash, and thus saving us one more bill to pay. I personally believe that the Lord was helping him to avoid the crash, blessing him for not making a fuss over the small dent the other man had inflicted on our car. I love my fast thinking man!!!
