I was on the computer and Landon taps me on the shoulder. (He's never done this before so I was a little surprised) I turn to look at him and see a huge grin and a shining face and he whispers "I see you!" I'm not sure where this came from or why he said it but it made me want to cry and laugh at the same time. For some unknown reason I found it so sweet that my son would find it necessary to tell me that he knows I'm here and he's happy about it.

While ordering Subway Sandwiches the boys were running around the mildly crowded room and I suddenly hear Sam say "Yeah." One of his "I'm answering a question 'yeahs'" so I turn around to find him sitting with a couple, chowing down on their Sun Chips. They must not have minded because the woman was giving him the bag so he could eat more. I apologized immediately. I was so embarrassed. they laughed an told me he had pulled out the chair, climbed up into it and just started eating.

The amount power children have over adults is amazing.
In other news: Our HOA is bothering our Landlord again. Granted we are probably not the most Ideal tenants. We have noisy children, we often forget to take our garbage can from the front of the house into the backyard, our back yard has been a huge mess until just recently, and we didn't take our Christmas lights down until today. However, I don't think that having Christmas lights up through February is reason for a hearing with the HOA board. They could just send us a letter asking us to take them down, but instead they've decided to send our landlord to a hearing over the matter. It took us two minutes to take them down people!!! REALLY!! Also - Are Christmas lights really going to lower the value of your home? I know the country is in a housing slump and house prices have plummeted making it a buyers dream and a sellers nightmare, but I don't think someone having their Christmas lights still up is going to make those prices even lower. Get a grip!

I love the power kids have! I have tried to enable that power by not being such a control freak of a mom. My girls seem to be running with it! I just hope I don't do something to take that power away, just because I am embarrassed or something. Great job with your boys. I'm sure you are great mom!
I think HOAs are not worth the hassle they cause!!! It seems like 90% of Phoenix is in one HOA or another. Thankfully, we managed to find a house without one. Good luck with the goobery managers!
I agree, kids are really powerful! We taught Hudson how to say please in sign language. Whenever he does it I completely lose all control and give in to whatever he wants because it is so stinking cute. He abuses the power he has over me. Good luck with the HOA. Sounds like such a pain. Sometimes I think HOAs just look for something to complain about.
Our HOA sent out a letter letting everyone know that seasonal decorations are great, but time is up. I say send back a letter and say they aren't "Christmas Lights," that you belong to a Hindu sect and are celebrating a little known "Festival of Lights." If they want to challenge Freedom of Religion, let them go for it.
Sam did what my son would do. But really, for a cute kid, you don't mind doing anything. Kids can be so sweet, and so hellish. But the brief cute moments make up for all of the other ones.
