Time Out

The other day Landon said some things to me that made me think that it's time to take him out for some one-on-one time.

It went something like this:

Landon: "I'm glad you're my mommy."
Me: smile "Thanks."
Landon: "Do you like me?"
Me: confusion.....
Landon: "Do you want me?"
Me: WHAT!!!???!!!

He definitely needs some alone time with mom and/or dad, and soon.

In other news:  Thanks to Dora The Explorer, Landon has spent a lot of time speaking spanish to us.  He doesn't pronounce everything corectly, and when counting to Ten he still throws in a few Italian words.  It's hard enough for me to understand my children's wants...do they have to throw in foreign words to confuse me even more?

Jaron tries to teach Kaden Vietnamese. That's one that I really have no confidence in learning. Luckily, Kaden just laughs at him when he tries.

don't you love the subtle ways kids tell you things. :)
I just recently read this book called "The five love languages, How to express heartfelt commitment to your mate" by Gary Chapman. It is WONDERFUL....I swear by it. And it also give a lot of references to being a parent and how to more fully and correctly show love to your children! I have applied it to my girls the last week, since I am done and it is amazing the difference in them. My oldest has stopped throwing as many fits! I recommend it. And I am sure Chris will benefit from it too! LOL

Good luck. We love having "date night" one on one with the girls..even it if is just running a few errands! And they fight over whose turn it is!

Landon is special. The things he says... well, he has always been a deep thinker. It sounds like he could be writing songs soon. Please give him a special hug from me!

I read somewhere that parents should each try to set aside an hour every month to do something alone with each of their children. Walk, picnic, go for ice cream, bake cookies, whatever. It's the time.

Yeah, Kenzie LOVES Dora. And lately she's been watching this other show that teaches them to speak Chinese. I heard her saying something the other day in Chinese.

Do you ever completely understand them? I love the various "hats" of Sam.
