Chris took Landon on an overnight hike. Chris carried all the gear but Landon was a trooper hiker and with the help of Wes and all the other "blue group" hikers he came back happy, if a little dirty.
While the "blue group" braved hiking amongst the bugs the "pink group" or as I prefer to call us the sane group, stayed back at camp with the little kids. We ate gourmet meals like pop-tarts and Macaroni and Cheese. It was great. Sam, Andie and Makayla danced in the bugs, colored, smiled for pictures, and fed a chipmunk a very large supply of nuts.
On our last day Chris took the boys out on the lake in a little boat. They loved it!
I stayed on the shore and took pictures, and Sam pretended to sleep on the rocks. (when it wasn't his turn in the boat, that is)
I think Jaedyn had fun with her dad on the boat too!
I think we all had a good time MINUS the mosquitoes. We were even able to take some family pictures. They didn't turn out the way I envisioned them....nothing ever does. But, I think they're good considering the dirty and non-photogenic(that's me) people in them. I just think it's amazing that all six kids were present in the same place at the same time.
I would post the picture of Sherman I have that would illustrate just how big the clouds of mosquitoes were, but our computer is still down and so the cropping of pictures is non-existent at the moment.
In other news:
We've been busy lately. The storage unit is empty, and we've sold several hundred dollars worth of book and CD's on Amazon. Enough to pay for most of Chris' school books. Very exciting, I know.
Also Chris is getting frustrated with all of our computer systems. Not only is our desktop AWOL but the PS3 has decided that it doesn't want Chris to play his favorite shooting games. It's very depressing.
We are settling into our new ward, and even getting callings this week....though since we haven't been sustained I won't be mentioning the details. I will say that it's going to be slightly more responsibility than my calling in the Library but not stressful enough for Chris to worry about it taking time away from his school work.
In Other Other News:
I found a kids bike on Craigslist for $25 this week. We bought some saftey pads and training wheels to go with it and now Landon has a real bike. He's been trying to ride his very small tricycle, and it just makes me feel like a bad mom when I see him riding that next to the other kids and their two-wheelers. Granted this bike is a little big for him, but he'll grow into it by next summer(hopefully), and he's very happy about the whole situation. Sam now wants a big bike, and considering the tricycle is almost too small for him as well, I might be hunting one down for him next summer. He just needs to learn to use the pedals before I can justify taking that plunge.
I also put Sam on a waiting list to get him into preschool for the Fall of 2011. The people looked at me like I was crazy for doing it this early, but I know myself. If I don't do it while I'm thinking about it, I'll forget, we won't make it onto the list and he won't be able to go at all, which would make him very sad. I almost signed him up to go this fall. Just for a couple days a week, but after perusing our budget and my feelings on the matter I decided that I just can't give up my baby yet, he really doesn't need it, and we really can't afford it anyway.
