Blackberries

Two weeks ago our friends took us blackberry picking.  I've heard of the blackberries bushes but I didn't know where to find them so when Jake and Kristina offered to take us out we jumped on it.  The bushes are more prickly than rose bushes and we all got a little scratched up, but it was worth it.  We picked almost two gallons and made freezer jam out of half of it.  I found I didn't have enough, tho.  So On Labor Day I took another friend whose been wanting to find the blackberries and we made a morning of it.  The kids had a good time throwing rocks and eating the berries.  Seth slept the whole time in the car with the windows down.  Sam was my responsible boy and stayed near the car to listen for Seth so I could get the berries.  I picked another half gallon before Seth woke up.  Then we had a picnic at a nearby park and the kids ran through the sprinklers and got soaked.  Chris spent most of the day catching up on all the school work he missed while being sick last week so I was glad I got the boys out of the house.
