Summer Events

This past summer went way too fast.  We've been working hard around here.  We spent a Saturday in Arimo with the Boyd family butchering 100 Chickens.  Okay so I spent the whole time in the house trying to stay away from the whole process.  Mostly because I'm allergic to chickens and also because it just didn't look that fun to me, though eating the chicken has been nice.  At the end of the day,we decided it was way too much work and I will probably stick to buying chicken from the store.  Chris really wanted our boys to see where we get our food so he made the boys stay outside and watch the first few chickens get beheaded.  Landon and Seth got bored fairly quickly but Sam wanted to help.  I was told that he tried to cut off several of the chickens heads and with Grandpas help he finally succeeded.  I have no pictures and I'm okay with that.

I was able to get a nice picture of Violet with Grandma Leora.  Violet is named after Grandma because she's such a wonderful person.  I was so happy that Violet cooperated so nicely for the pictures.

For the fourth of July we went camping.  It was hot and a little miserable for all of us, but we had some fun cooking over the fire, eating smores, and with a lot of help from Chris Seth and Landon each caught a fish.

I spent a few days in Salt Lake with my family.  We went swimming at the neighborhood pool thanks to our neighbor accross the street who gave us her passes.  We participated in the Lowe's building workshop with the kids and even had a weenie roast in my parents backyard.

Landon had braces put on his teeth to correct his cross bite and I'm really just kicking myself that we didn't do the braces in the first place.  That retainer was such a hassle.  His teeth are looking better now and I'm hoping to convince his orthodontist to take them off next month.

I've needed a lot of help as my body gets bigger through this pregnancy.  Sam has really stepped up to help me with Violet.  He carries her around the house for me and helps her when she's sad.  Violet loves it when her brothers play with her.

Seth is now toilet trained.  It took a couple weeks for him to really get the hang of things.  Camping and Traveling to visit family in the middle of the training chaos didn't help much, but he's got it down now and we couldn't be prouder of him.

Violet is growing everyday.  Her favorite things to do usually involve playing with her brothers, climbing the stairs when she knows she's not allowed to, and pushing just about anything around the house.  She really hates it when she can't push the laundry baskets through the furniture or the walls.  She just expects everything to move for her and when it doesn't she screams and cries.  Needless to say, she's been crying at me a lot lately.

We have a hard time with Violet on Sundays.  Church starts at 1:00 which is the same time as her nap time.  I've been trying to get her down to sleep earlier than that, but there have been many times when she has fallen asleep in her high chair just before we have to leave.

I say just do what mom did. She would put me to sleep and then leave me as she went to church.
