Mount Vernon

We took a trip to the home of George Washington on Friday. We toured through the Mansion, Sam freaked out so Kellie generously took him for us. It was an interesting house, most of the walls reminded me of our Italian apartment's walls - Probably because they were made of plaster.

It was a beautiful landscape. No wonder Washington hated leaving this place.

We also took a boat ride down the Potomac, while we were there.

This is a fort where the rebels fought the red coats during the Revolutionary War. The General holding the Fort decided it was hopeless to continue fighting there, so he destroyed the guns and the supplies that they couldn't take with them, and his unit left. He was later court marshaled for abandoning his post and destroying military supplies. We felt bad for the guy - he probably saved many of his men's lives and then was punished for it. I guess that's what happens to those who run and live to fight another day. :)

We finished off our outing with some soft ice cream.

That night we shared a spaghetti dinner with the whole Boyd clan here in Virginia, then rushed off for the Peacocks house. Vince and Britt threw a going away party for Shawn and Kellie. Many people showed up to chat and eat.

You are totally the master blogger. I'm amazed at how you can whip them out and share so much. It also helps that you're taking pictures so much. I think I need to put a forward from my blog to yours then people will know what we've been up to.

The pictures are awesome.
