Wild Thing

Lately Chris has been reading the book Where the Wild Things Are to the boys before bedtime. They know the book by heart. Considering this(and since we've heard great reviews)we thought it appropriate to take them to see the movie for Family Home evening last night. We were the first people in the theater, so we got the best seats.
The last time I took Landon to a movie in the theaters he talked the whole time and wouldn't sit still, which was okay then, because it was one of those free movies for kids and everyone was talking and yelling and running around. For this movie , he stayed mostly quiet and only roamed around in front of us, hopefully not disturbing the other 7 people in the theater.
This was Sam's first time in a theater, and he loved it. The movie kept him enthralled, in his own seat until the very end when he decided that it would be more fun to watch while sitting with dad, then mom, and since Landon was roaming along the isle, it was okay. We did get shushed by one dork in the back once when Sam got excited about seeing the birds, and wanted to make sure we saw them too. I didn't feel bad about Sam talking because that guy had just finished laughing pretty loudly just a few minutes before.

All in all it was a good experience for us, the boys liked the monsters and I thought the movie was beautiful, but almost made me think too much. Also, if he had been my son, there is NO WAY I would have given him any chocolate cake at the end!!!

I went to see "Where The Wild Things Are" with a group of adults last weekend. It was definitely not what I expected. Lots deeper than I was prepared for and I have been thinking a lot about it since. And how each of the monsters maybe represents a side of Max's personality.
