April 6-8

In anticipation of the Boyd reunion/campout this July, we decided to take the boys into the "wilderness" of the Shenandoah National Forrest. Sam and Landon were so excited to go camping. Chris found us a nice camping spot that was mostly away from other people. We took the boys hiking to a waterfall, where they threw a lot of rocks, and got really dirty.

The boys LOVE their sleeping bags!
For our wedding we were given a great dutch oven (one of our best presents! Thanks again ladies!) but we've never had a really good reason to use it until now. For it's maden voyage we made spaghetti. It was quite the adventure.

Smart people would have waited to use just the good coals, but we decided to have some fun in the flames.

We really enjoyed ourselves. There were deer, and raccoons and Chris even had a short run-in with a skunk. The nights weren't too cold and the days not too hot and the best part was...NO MOSQUITOES!!!

The boys really liked hanging from the tree and singing the "Five Little Monkeys Swinging From a Tree" song.

I've never heard of spaghetti in a dutch oven before...that is neat! And I'm real jealous of you going camping if only it was warmer here.
