Moments in Motherhood

Tonight, while boiling some noodles for dinner, Sam came into the kitchen and began praying in a funny voice. I turned around to see what he was doing and found him playing with his GI Joe, who happened to be positioned on his knees with his arms folded. Landon was with Sam and in the process of positioning his GI Joe in the same fashion. Instead of explaining that prayers are a special way to talk to our Heavenly Father, I took pictures. Sam interpreted my reaction as a good thing and spent the next 20 minutes pretending to pray in several different "funny" voices. I kept telling him that he shouldn't try to be funny with prayers because praying is a serious thing. I don't think he really got the point.

I really need to learn to watch how I react to my little boys, and their forms of playing. It would save me a lot of time and frustration. On the other hand, at least my boys know what you're supposed to do when you pray. I am teaching them something good....right?!!!

Last Sunday, during primary, the president asked the children to volunteer to do some musical numbers during sacrament meeting. Of course, Landon raised his hand. Luckily his teacher talked him out of keeping his hand in the air before they wrote his name down. When church was over, I thanked his teacher for intervening on my behalf. This is what he told me:

"When Landon raised his hand I had a hunch he didn't know what he was volunteering for, so I asked him what it is that he plays. Landon answered 'the Wii'."

We both laughed. It's times like those that I'm grateful the Lord gives my children good teachers.

I was looking in the mirror bemoaning my size and the fact that I still have four more months to get even bigger. Sam looked at me and said "Yeah, mom, if you get any bigger you'll break the house!" WOW.....Thanks Sam!

These stories are so funny! That certainly made me smile! You'll be glad you documented this precious moments when they are grown up and they will too!

All three of those stories made me laugh out loud. You are a good mom because you have taught your boys how to pray, and an even better mom because you took pictures of their sweetness. I play the Wii too! Never knew it was Sacrament mtg worthy! And, I've seen you pregnant before. I'm sure you look fine. I find I always feel like I look worse than I really do. Still laughing at all of these.
