Sam had his fourth birthday last Monday. I think he had a good day. He and I spent the morning making his birthday cup cakes. I was a little surprised when he asked to "wick" the batter, since he's never asked me that before, but it was HIS birthday so he gets to do what he wants to do.
Sam helped decorate the cup cakes with sprinkles and then, because he was such a good helper, he got to eat one.
He chose "samwiches" for lunch and took a good nap. After naps Sam wanted to go to the park, but it's cold and wet around here so we went to the mall and played at the indoor playground. I've never seen it so busy, but I think Sam and Landon had a good time. Landon told everyone "This is my brother Sam, it's his birthday!!", and I think he wished Sam a "Happy Birthday" at least ten times. Dinner was, as Sam requested, Noodles and Parmesan cheese.
We sang and Sam blew out his candles but when I asked which cup cake he wanted he said "how 'bout I open presents?!" So we did. A big THANK YOU goes out to grandparents for furnishing some great toys. Sam LOVES the giant Spiderman, and once Sam figured out what the Leapster actually does, he's loved playing that too. Though Landon does his best to correct EVERYTHING Sam tries to do with the games. We also spent an hour on the floor of the boys bedroom putting all the Legos together.
All in all I think the day was a success. Now all I have to do is convince Sam that he won't be turning 5 in a few weeks and he can stop asking for more toys for his birthday.
