We celebrated my birthday yesterday. Chris says he feels bad that we didn't have any cake or candles, but we did what I wanted to do. We went to dinner then drove out to a strange'rs house to buy a double stroller. I've never had one before and never really needed one, but lately Seth has been struggling with walking calmly with me. He sees Violet in the stroller and feels tired and so wants to be pushed around too. Most of the time I've had to put him on top of the stroller's sun shade and it's not very safe. When he saw the big stroller with two seats his eyes got very big. I think he was happy. I plan on trying it out this weekend as I need to take the kids for a walk to complete some of Landon's cub scout requirements to get his Wolf.
After we got home we put the boys to bed and Chris installed my new Washing Machine. This is my third washing machine in the last four years. The first was given to me by a good friend from high school. It worked great until the knobs broke off in one of our many law school moves and I couldn't change the settings to accommodate different water temperatures and load sizes. So Chris found a reasonable priced set of washer and dryer on Craigslist and we used that for the second and third year of law school. They are not a great set of machines but they sort of work so we use them. The washer has the problem of leaking and so mold tends to grow underneath it. Yesterday I washed an extra large load in the morning and came to find a large puddle, so I texted Chris and asked him to help me move the machine so I could clean and try to prevent any warping of the linoleum. He wrote back "I think I can do that." We've been married so long that I really know him, and I could hear his voice saying the words in a very smug voice. Then I told myself there was no way he was getting me a new washer and dryer because it's just too expensive right now, and it would be better to just wait until we move again so we don't have to haul the machines up and down the stairs. When he was late getting home I thought it was because he was getting me a present, but he was sneaky and apologized for being late due to being really busy at work. However when we got in the car I noticed that the doors were unlocked, and the driver seat was already set for his comfort instead of mine. So just like every surprise he's ever tried to pull off for me, I coaxed the truth out of him and spent the rest of the evening feeling giddy about my new washer. I've been using my washer all morning and I'm loving it. I didn't want a front loader I wanted a large machine with no agitator. Chris looked them up on consumer reports and found the best one for the best price. Unfortunately the matching dryer doesn't have very good reviews so I'll now be on the lookout for the perfect dryer and maybe he'll surprise me with it for my next birthday.
When Seth saw me taking pictures of Violet, he had to get in on the action. Wow, he really needs a hair cut. Maybe I'll pick that fight when Chris is home to help me though.

What a thoughtful husband! It's always SO interesting to see the things on our Birthday lists as Mothers... Washing Machines & double-strollers. Mine this last year was to put shelves in the shed. Things that really actually benefit the WHOLE family (not just US!), but that help make our lives just a little more smoother. Glad you had a good Birthday! :)
