6 Years!

Yesterday was our 6th Anniversary.

We decided to celebrate on Saturday, because Sunday is...well...a day of rest. So we got a baby sitter for the boys and went off to dinner at a Chinese Restaurant that is just around the block. It was okay. The General Tso's Chicken had a little too much fatty (as in rubbery) content for me, and the appetiser didn't have enough shrimp. (only two, we were expecting six) I really wanted Chinese, though. I'm really missing my favorite restaurant in Bountiful, UT. The Mandarin has the best meals, and I'm used to going there for many holidays throughout the year...but I haven't been there in almost three years. Sigh! (Family please be warned...when we are next in town I fully expect to go on an eating binge. The Mandarin, Hires, and that great Chinese place in Pocatello - I think it was called the Lucky Palace.) After eating we didn't know what to do...we thought of a movie, but I really just wanted to be us and talk, you can't really do that in a theater, plus the movies around here are WAY overpriced. So we decided to use our recent gift from Kellie and go get some new bowls from Bed Bath and Beyond. (Thanks Kellie!!!) We wandered the store for a while, but soon got bored. We just didn't want to go home I booked the babysitter until 11:00 and it was only 8:30, but we couldn't think of anything to do so we gave up. We got shakes from McDonald's (I wanted a soft ice cream cone, but all they had was vanilla. I wanted a chocolate and vanilla swirl. How disappointing!) I got the babysitter home by 9:00, and Chris and I watched the new episode of Burn Notice to end our night. It was a good night, because we got away from the boys for a while. That doesn't happen very often. It was nice to spend some alone time with Chris, but I realized that we are losing our youthful energy for romance....then again it's nice to know that we don't need much to have a nice time together.

I have to admit, though, that the actual day of our Anniversary was a good one. We had Stake Conference, so church was shorter, and not only did we have a member of the seventy there to speak to us, but we had the Washington DC Temple President, and to top all the excitement off, Elder Oaks, from the Quorum of the Twelve, was there too. Chris and I thought it was because we were getting a new Stake President, but that didn't happen. So we were just randomly blessed to hear an Apostle speak, either that or he grew up with our stake president and so some strings were pulled. I spent most of the time in the Primary room with Sam. Watching him mooch off of other kids cars and snacks. I brought some for him, but he preferred the other kids stuff, and the other parents didn't seem to mind. Luckily they piped the conference into the room with a television and everything, I didn't miss much. Chris said Landon was pretty good for him, except for the accident in the bathroom....but we'll gloss over that one.

It doesn't feel like we've been married for very long, and yet sometimes it feels longer. In the last 6 years we've moved five times, spent a year and a half apart because of the army, survived two pregnancies, and ten months in Italy. Our two boys keep me very busy, but I love every minute of it.(okay not every minute, but most of them!) Chris is still in school, and we're hoping that he can get a job this coming June, when he will finally graduate with a Masters in International Relations and Economics. In the meantime, we're happy just being students.

Thus begins the seventh year of our Marriage. They say it's supposed to be one of the hardest of a marriage, and according to National Statistics it's a big year for divorce. I'm determined to beat the national average, so don't worry. It may be a hard year for us, because we're going to have to get used to Chris being gone a lot more for work, but we're going to be together for a long time.

I Love You Chris!!!

Congratulations!!! Doesn't time go by so fast? Everytime I think of your wedding day I remember how Wes got "the call" (putting him on alert) on the way from the temple to the lunch. It was still a fun day and I'm glad we could be there with you. I've loved having you as a sister in law for the last 6 years! Glad you had a fun night Saturday.

Wow, 6 years! Contrats. We're just behind you at 5 years. Glad you got a sitter for the boys and spent the evening together. Is there not a Dollar Theatre out there? I never go to the movies unless I can pay $1.50 to get in. I'm just cheap I guess.
