Early Tuesday morning I dropped Sam off at my Visiting Teacher's house and then Landon and I spent the next hour and half riding buses and listening to the Principal try to convince parents that their children will be safe on the buses. It was hot and stuffy with so many people crowded in those seats and I got a little nauseous from sitting in the back of the bus. At the end I informed people that my child is prone to motion sickness and so they promised me he could sit in the front of the bus. (Which is convenient for me because it means he's the first one off the bus)
Today Landon got on his bus and rode away without me. I didn't think I'd be sad about it since he did preschool five days a week last year, but I was a little melancholy after he left. Then I came home and watched "The Time Traveler's Wife" and felt even more sad, so I took Sam and left to pick Landon up a half an hour early. Sam had fun playing on the grass and with rocks until the bus came. Since it was the first day, and they have road construction near the school, the bus was a half an hour late brining the kids to the elementary school from the university. (I put Landon on a bus that takes him to the elementary school, then he gets on another bus that takes him to the university where his actual class is, and when it's over he gets back on the bus and goes to the elementary school where I pick him up. Technically I could just walk him to school since the first bus stop is five minutes away from our home, and the classroom is another five minutes from that....but Landon wants to ride the bus with the other kids.)
When we took Landon to the bus this morning Sam insisted on wearing his back pack. And YES those jackets were needed today. It was wet from the rain last night and chilly all day today. I guess it was just a very short summer this year.
Landon says he had fun in class today and I think he's excited to go back tomorrow, especially since Chris is going to pick him up after class and have lunch with him on campus.
Once again I ask myself "Why do my babies have to grow up?" Part of me likes Landon going to school, learning new things and leaving me with just Sam in the mornings, while another part of me just wants him to stay little and stay home with me. (admittedly some of that stems from me not wanting to get up before 7 AM.)

I'm glad it all went well! I didn't realize when you were saying that you had to do the bus ride along that he had to switch busses. Now it all makes sense! Why does he go to school at the University instead of the Elementary?
If they do the kindergarten with the University they can use the Education students as "volunteers" in the classroom.
How fast he is growing up. He can already say he has gone to a University. Hee hee.
