I've been meaning to post this all week, but life seems to be going faster than I can run. Last Sunday Chris gave Violet her baby blessing in church. When we set it up with the Bishop I started looking for a dress for her. We wanted one of those beautiful white christening dresses, but when I looked them up online I couldn't find one that cost less than $45. So I showed a picture of a beautiful dress, that I found on pinterest, to Chris and he liked it so I started to make it. I spent $15 on fabric and ribbon and used a short sleeve onesie that we already had. I made the skirt and then made a bodice and sleeves to cover the dingy onesie. Then I tried to put it one her.....it didn't fit over her head and the sleeves frayed and came off. It was a frustrating disaster, but I was already too far in to stop. I spent another $15 dollars on some new long sleeve onesies and finished the dress. I like the finished product except that she gets fuzzies in her mouth from the frilly neckline.

After the dress was finished I took a trip to the church distribution center to buy Chris some new temple pants and saw a white baby dress that I LOVED. It only cost $28. So the moral of the story - don't make your own baby blessing dress, get it from the church instead.
If you wanted to know, Chris blessed her with a kind and loving heart and moral strength.

Well good for you for even TRYING to make a blessing dress! It looks beautiful! I'm sure it's much better than anything I could come up with... But yeah, nowadays it sure seems like it's not always cheaper in the long run to make your own clothes. Glad her blessing went well anyway!
